BlackMouse is Linux distribution based on Slackware Linux and pkgsrc package system. Pkgsrc system is used in NetBSD unix system and other modifications in other systems, for example in FreeBSD. Main base packages is from slackware with some modification for pkgsrc and other applications packages are compiled from pkgsrc tree.
Prefer gui is GTK2, so prefer desktop is Xfce and GNOME, but KDE is compiled too. Any others BlackMouse tools is/will be programmed in Python, GTK and Bash. In fact, we could say, that BlackMouse Linux want be BSD distribution /with same clean/. In another view to BSD, it's better, and more freedom licence that GPL. So this distribution as complet (new thinks to GNU Slackware Linux) is BSD. We can call BSD BlackMouse Linux as BSD distribtion with GNU kernel :) Many thinks which they are only modifed are still under GPL licence ! Only some new scripts or separate files, code or thinks are under BSD licence!
At this moment, there are 3 hardware versions of BlackMouse: i586, i686 and for x86_64.
Light Desktop (i568, i686)
Light desktop is BlackMouse sub-distribution. It is completion of main desktop software for use in old or not strong hardware. It contain xorg-modular packages, blackbox70, icewm-imlib, rox, 3Ddesktop, xfce, rxvt-unicode and gkrellm as desktop part. Firefox, dillo-i18n, links, claws-mail, fetchmail, nail, mutt, psi, gaim and xchat as net part. Abiword, gnumeric, evince, gcalculator, printer fonts and aspell as office part. Gimp, gqview, ImageMagick, qiv and dia as graphics part. Bomberclone, xmahjong, pysol and powermanga is games. Aumix, beep media player, alsatools and xfmedia(from xfce) as multimedia part. Vim, gnome-commander, xnc, mc, openssh, rsync, geany and python as tools and hal, rcorder, rc.subr as system packages. Smart Server (i586, i686, x86_64)
Smart Server is "commercial" release for small firms. It contain main packages for web, file, mail or develop server and also server applications for no so strong hardware, for example (mini_httpd, mini_sendmail and so on). The philosophy of this server is server setting for no so much users, so the application users is system users (passwd file). Some applications thus aren't compile with sql back-end, but there is no restriction to install own packages from pkgsrc or from another release of BlackMouse Linux with this back-end. Enterprise Server (i686, x86_64, i586 only as commercial task)
This is like as Smart Server, but packages is compiled with sql (MySQL) back-end. This version could (and commercial version have) have authentication and authorization to MySQL server (special second server). This model is like in Novell with it's NDS, so we could call in linux LDS or for BlackMouse Linux BDS as BlackMouse Directory Service. At this moment the sql database have this services: DNS, FTP, Mail and we prepare CVS, HTTP and PAM. Free version have no administration tool for edit sql records at this moment, you can write your own or use phpmyadmin as universal admin tool :)

We are not compiling all packages from pkgsrc at this moment, but all what could be important or what are interesting we build. This packages are (will be) on install CD, but not all build packages. Here you can find full gnome desktop, kde desktop, development or graphics tools, low-end system tools or games for example.
